XV. Jenkin Kemeys: 2nd son of David Kemeys (XIV) of Cefn Mably (see which branch) by his wife Cecil: married Juliiana daughter and heiress of Jorwerth ap Roger ap Adam of the Vaendre, parish of St.Mellons (291), Glamorganshire. Issue. 1. John 2. James: whence Kemeys of Croydon (see which branch).

XVI. John Kemeys: of the Vaendre: "the marshal": married Margaret, daughter of Thomas Morgan of Machen, esquire of the body to Henry VII, 2nd. son of Sir John Morgan, and widow of Morgan Gwyn; she survived her husband and married 3rdly Wm. Edmunds of Trevildu, who died 16th. July 1537. Issue, 1. Rowland. 2. Margaret: a legatee under the will of Wm. Morgan of Tredegar. 3. Lucy: a legatee under the will of Wm. Morgan of Tredegar: living 1568.

XVII. Rowland Kemeys: of the Vaendre: High Sheriff of Co. Glamorgan 1576: plaintiff between 1558-94 in a Chancery suit concerning lands etc. in the parish St. Mellons: will dated 1st. December 1593 and proved 30th. April 1594 in London: married 1st. Mary, daughter of Edward Lewis of the Van, 2nd. Mary, daughter of Anthony Welsh of Llanwern, 3rd. Florence, daughter of Sir George Mathew of Radyr; who was his sole executrix and devisee, and whose will was proved in London in 1601. Issue, by his first wife, 1. Jenet: married 1st. Sir Henry Jones, Knt. of Albemarle, Co. Caermarthen, 2nd. Sir Robt. Hopton, Bart: of Witham, Somersetshire (292), by whom she had a son Ralph, created Lord Hopton, and four daughters, one of whom, Rachel, had the Vaendre and married David Kemeys of Cefn Mably. 2. Margaret: married Morgan John of Coed Carnew, who was living 1565-1621, and was one of the Gwern-y-Cleppa family. By his second wife, 3. Anne: of Ditchell, Somersetshire: died young: administration by her sister Lady Hopton in London 12th. February 1595. By his 3rd. wife, 4. Edward: died s.p. (?v.p.)

(291) St. Mellons, or Melans, parish, Monmouthshire, lies on the main road from Milford to Gloucester 2 miles S. from Michaelston-y-Vedw and 4.5 miles N.E. by E. from Cardiff. Vaindre Hall, John Cory Esq., is now a principal seat in the parish.
